TS Mercury and Cricket

Charles Hoare took a fanatical interest in cricket and, in fact, at one time was Chairman of the Hampshire Country Cricket Club. Because of this interest and his connections he often had famous cricketers as guests at the Mercury. Inevitably this resulted in friendly games on the excellent cricket field. In these pictures you can see pictures of WG Grace, Prince Ranjitsinjhi and others taken at the Mercury. It was through his cricketing connections that he met CB Fry who would later manage the Mercury when he died.
